Light Up The Night: Celebrate Diwali 

at Linden Gardens


 

On October 25, 2025, enjoy an evening of beauty and grace to honor the Festival of Lights at the exquisite Linden Gardens, Syilx tmixʷ (Okanagan lands aka Kaleden). The cherished tradition of Diwali celebrates the eternal triumph of light over darkness, and hope over despair. Look forward to a night of refined elegance, featuring:


 

• a gourmet vegetarian Indian dinner prepared with care to delight the senses, embodying the warmth and hospitality of Diwali

• a transformed Frog City Café space, artistically curated by Matheson Grove Art Gallery, offering a visual journey to complement the spirit of the festival

• Cultural performances to honour light and hope 

• an enchanting night-time experience at Linden Gardens


 

Join us for a night of cultural richness, community, and celebration — an experience where light, art, and flavor weave into nourishing harmony.


 

Access:

  • • Free parking at first glance to get to on-site. Carpool encouraged.
  • • The Frog City Café is a fully wheelchair-accessible indoor venue (seating, washrooms. A short gravel-and-paver walkway to navigate into an indoor space.

• The Linden Gardens are outdoors and on uneven gravel and earth pathways; event will be a low-light outdoor experience. 

• This is an alcohol-free event

Frog City Cafe

Like all good stories, this is a story rooted in love.

The seeds of this story were planted way back in the 1970's, when I, Lalita, moved to Kaleden and met the Hayter family. As a youth I would love, laugh, dance, sing, and play on these lands with the Hayter cousins Kris and Myron, eating Grandma Hayters cinnamon toast after school. This family would take over my heart.

Life would happen and we would lose the Hayter cousins at a young age. Grief would move my feet to travel, but eventually these feet would bring me back home to raise my own family.

To return a lifetime later to these lands and these beautiful people completes a circle in my life, full bloom.

It is my honor to be given the opportunity to operate Frog City Cafe with my husband and hold space for love, laughter, dancing, singing, and playing.

This is a love story. This is Frog City Cafe.
